We loved the peaceful few days at cornerstone this past week. Our king river view room was impeccable, clean, bed was comfortable, the view of the river and mountains hit the spot! The owner was knowledgeable and recommended local restaurants, we followed up and were not disappointed. We have stayed at cornerstone in the past, but it’s bee freshened up over the past few years and it is welcoming and comfortable. A wonderful stay and we can’t wait to return!

We often travel the Scenic Cabot Trail. After a long drive into Cape Breton, our first sleep over is always the Cornerstone Motel for its location at the Gates of the Famous Cabot trail. Amenities close by in Cheticamp. Your hosts Greg and Kathy will help you with making your Stay as comfortable as possible. I needed a wrench to tighten a bolt, Greg was happy to help out. Also, they are very knowledgable on points of interest on the Cabot Trail. This year, they suggested Meat Cove. A place I certainly will come back too. The view is on a cliff looking over the Ocean. Very peaceful.

Our room was very clean with newer amenities, comfortable bed and remodeled bath. The fridge kept our wine and water kool, and the morning coffee is great to have. The Fire Pit is a nice area to stay warm in the evening and star gaze. While the sound of the River behind the motel gently gives you a relaxing sleep. The 10 acre property has Walking trails by the River. Coffee is always fresh in the Lobby and conversation with Kathy is always a delight. We keep coming here for the important Rest before heading on the Cabot Trail in the morning. We definatley will return and hope their New Cornerstone Restaurant will be ready next year 2021. Breath taking pictures of the Cape Breton Highlands start at the Cornerstone. Thank you again for making our Stay as memorable as the first.

If you are wanting a place to stay in the area that maintains immaculately clean rooms, this is the place to stay. It may not be super fancy with a plethora of extra amenities, but the rooms are spotless, spacious, and very comfortable. They do things by the book when you check-in, so make sure to have your vehicle information ahead of time, including licence plate #. They will also go over some of their policies, which are just common sense to the great majority, but it is the small minority why they do this. One such is that bathroom towels are used only for yourself, not your dirty boots or vehicle. It is because of their attention to detail and policies that you can be certain they are sticklers for cleanliness, and after checking in I went to my room and it was spotlessly clean, I even out of curiosity checked the floorboard heaters and not a spot of dust on them, nor behind the bed when plugging in my charger. Highly recommend them, anytime I am in the area in the future I will stay here and will recommend it to any/all that ask.
